This photo session had been in the works for several months! One of our long-time clients reached out to see if I would travel for a big family photo session with her siblings, their kids, and her parents. They gifted this shoot to their parents for Christmas and planned it for the Spring.
It’s clear that these siblings and cousins get together quite often and have a rowdy time! There was no way were going to keep the attention of these kiddos for long, so we snapped the stand & smile at the camera shots first thing; then we embrace the chaos and let them be little! Letting the kids run and play is where the magical moments and emotion always happen.
I hope that these grandparents can look at these photos in awe of how blessed they are to be surrounded by so much love. They have built the most beautiful family and home. I hope the parents will look at these photos and appreciate the wind in their kids’ hair and their innocent, sometimes even wild-side, playfulness. I know they’ll look back one day and think, “We were all still so young!” But my biggest hope is that these photos will be cherished by the kids when they are adults… that they’ll look back and think about the silly faces their grandma made to get them to smile, their grandpa’s big hugs, what incredible lives their parents gave them… my biggest wish is that they’ll recreate some of these images along with the laughter many years from now. I hope these images will always evoke feelings of good times together as a family.
This was such a fun and wonderfully meaningful shoot and something I hope to get to do more often! Bring all your cousins! Bring the grandparents! Here are some of our favorite images we hope will be hung and framed to always remember:
