I’m sharing another beautiful spring wedding today! I’m getting ya hyped for spring, okay? Love and Lavender actually featured Emily and Chris’ wedding on their blog last year! Check it out here.
Do you remember these two?? I shot their engagement session in the fall of 2016 in my hometown! Remember that tulle skirt of Emily’s?? If you don’t, click here to see how pretty it all was!
As soon as I arrived at Emily’s room at the DoubleTree Downtown, I knew they day would be full of nothing but joy. She was radiant. Everyone was so sweet, so kind. As I was prepping to shoot Emily’s pretty details (swooning over all the soft lavender), her mom introduced herself to me and said, “After reading your blog, I knew Emily had chosen the right photographer. You clearly have a passion for this. I saw it in every person you photographed.” Holy moly, Mama Bright! I’ll never forget that moment. It meant so much to have someone who had never met me before see this simply be reading my words and looking through the portraits I take. My heart was so full and it was the greatest reminder of why I love photography so much. Thank you for that.
After the girls and the guys were dressed, we walked over to the Ohio Statehouse for Emily and Chris’ first look! Emily was seriously perfect. We set up the first look so Chris could watch Emily come down those pretty stone stairs – like straight out of a Disney princess movie! Chris and Emily had dated for several years, but he looked at her like he had never seen anything so beautiful before in his life. They took in the moment as if no one else was there (Not even their family and friends who were all watching from the distance!). After the first look, Emily turned to me and said, “Sorry! We forgot you were there!” So they really did! It was genuinely magical.
After portraits, it was time to head off to North Bank Park. It was an exceptionally hot day for May, but it was a gorgeous day. Emily and Chris were married beneath the city skyline on the river. I have never seen anyone do this before, but they used a tree in their ceremony! They had a new buckeye tree to plant at their new home and they placed dirt in it from both of the houses they grew up in. The tree would be planted with that dirt in their new home together. I loved this idea!
We almost did not make it out for sunset portraits because everyone was having a blast at the reception! Everyone was dancing and smiling and just having the time of their lives and surrounding these two with so much love. I am so happy for these two.
Emily and Chris, what a wonderful thing to know you both. Thank you so much for choosing me as your wedding photographer. Here are some of my favorites from that amazing spring day!
