Hi there! I’m sitting outside tonight enjoying the beautiful weather we are having! There is a good fire going as the sunsets, my husband is working on our fence, and the dogs are laying in the grass. I was craving this peaceful oasis that is somehow my backyard. It’s been a long day.
But let me back up a couple of days: When I entered church on Saturday for Eliana’s baptism, our friend Helen greeted me, as she always does, with a hug and a “it’s good to see you,” and she asked how I was doing. I said, as I always do, “I’m staying busy. I’m very busy.” I always feel bad that we haven’t been to church in a while because we are genuinely so busy working hard at our jobs and on our home and trying to keep up with family and friends - we are so tired. But Helen gave the most beautiful response: “Look at all God has done for you.”
My life has been so blessed and I’ve made so many amazing relationships through this business, including Susan and Michael. This baptism was extra special. How cool that so many of my sessions are becoming those “extra special” ones!
I photographed Susan and Michaels’ engagement photos, their wedding, their first baby announcement with their sweet puppies, their first daughter’s Anastasia’s baptism, and how amazing for me that they asked me to come back once again to photograph their second daughter Eliana’s baptism.
I was so happy to see Father Dean and Presbytera Gabrielle had come in from Pittsburgh and even more excited when I realized they were Eliana’s Godparents, and that Eliana’s baptismal gown was handmade by Presbytera! It was funny watching Father Dean quietly play peek a boo with Eliana during her baptism. She was so engaged the entire time with her big beautiful eyes taking everything in.
I love shooting weddings, but honestly, I think baptisms are becoming my favorite event to shoot! It’s only an hour, but every little piece of the ceremony holds significant meaning.
Susan and Michael, thank you so much for inviting me back to photograph Eliana’s baptism. Thank you for supporting my business. Even if I was working, it didn’t feel like it - it was so good to see my church family again.
