We are back with another Wedding Wednesday! We are so happy to close out our wedding season with such a wonderful couple! This is our second shooter Mauretta’s sister Athena and a family I know personally from church, so this one meant a lot to me to photograph!
Athena and Sean’s day was a testament to the type of people they are. They waited an entire year to get married to ensure that their family and friends could be there with them to celebrate. We have so many favorite moments from this day:
Quietly that morning, Sean’s mom gifted Athena a beautiful bracelet that had been her own. This was such a meaningful gift. We watching Sean shed tears as he took in Athena’s beauty during their first look. He so sweetly and so gently touch the bracelet. Gosh, the way these two look at each other is so magical. You can feel the genuine care and love they have for each other.
Athena and Sean were married at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Columbus and we took photos around the church and across the street at Goodale Park. After the ceremony, the party headed over to the reception hall at Annunciation. Our hearts were bursting as Athena and Sean shared the cake cutting spotlight with Athena’s grandparents for their anniversary. Their original wedding date was October 17 of last year, which was also her grandparent’s anniversary. This year they celebrated 67 years! They even had a separate cake for them to cut!
Athena’s father-daughter dance was one of the most beautiful dances we have ever seen, as she danced first with her father and then her sisters and cousins brought up her uncles and grandfathers, who played such a meaningful role in her life, for a moment to dance with her. This was a surprise for them! By the end, the dance floor was filled and Athena was surrounded by so many loved ones.
Well, we thought the dance floor was filled, until the Greek dancing started soon after… THEN the dance floor was really filled!
Athena & Sean, thank you for choosing us to photograph the day you waited so long for! We are so happy you found each other. You are such a shining example of true love that we know will last a lifetime. Cheers to your love story!
